Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any requirements to join?

You must be a junior or senior to pledge. Underclassmen may join the club as interns or provisional members. You must also be an Accounting, Finance, or BIT major with a 3.0 GPA. In order to become a fully initiated member, you must participate in several events to aid your professional development for a total of 40 hours in your pledge semester, which includes weekly meetings. The same number of hours must be completed every semester after initiation. More detailed information can be found in the chapter documents here.

What happens if I don't complete my hours?

Failure to complete your hours in your pledge semester means you will not be initiated. Failure to complete your hours after initiation means you will be put on probation. 

What is the dress code for the meetings?

There is no specific dress code for maintenance meetings but for professional meetings, you must be dressed business casual or business professional. Examples of business casual attire can be found here.

What counts as professional hours?

Almost any time you interact with professionals can count! Working your job does not count, but guest speakers, job interviews, and career fairs all count! Events that are not sponsored by BAP have a limit to the amount of time you can count which will be decided at the discretion of the president and reporter. The majority of your professional hours will come from weekly meetings.

What counts as service hours?

Only time and effort spent on chapter service projects can count as service hours. Accounting lab hours in excess of the required 6 can be counted at the discretion of the president and reporter.

What counts as accounting lab hours?

Time spent volunteering in the BAP sponsored accounting tutoring sessions known as accounting lab count as accounting lab hours. Tutoring outside these times (ie: paid tutoring) can be counted at the discretion of the president and reporter.

When and where is accounting lab?

Accounting Lab is held in Johnson Hall 207 on Mondays from 8:30am to 10:30am, Tuesdays from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, and in Johnson Hall 402 on Thursdays from 11am to 12pm.

What counts as fundraising hours?

Only participation in chapter fundraising events count as fundraising hours.
